Shopping in West Maui

If you are seeking, a shopping excursion while visiting West Maui you will not be disappointed.


The most popular place for shopping is in Lahaina with the most logical areas to be the Lahaina Cannery Mall and the shops along Front Street.


If malls interest you, whether for shopping or for people watching then you are going to absolutely love Lahaina Cannery Mall for both reasons. This is one happening mall that has such shops as Escape to Maui, Serendipity, Hats Galore, Kite Fantasy, and Totally Hawaiian Gifts. Within these shops you can find the perfect outfit, hats to shade you from the hot sun, and of course unique souvenirs to take back home.


Front Street is one of the most popular of all shopping areas in West Maui. If you are ready for a real shopping experience, just park your car at one end of the street and take off. You will find all kinds of unique items and all kinds of yummy treats as well. Some of the best shops found on Front Street include Dan’s Green House, which is really on Prison Street just off Front Street. Here you will find those unique lave rock plants that you see around in various restaurants adorning the tables. Other shops of interest just across from The Banyan Tree include the Wharf Cinema Center, Tuna Luna, and Quilts ‘n Kitchen. Take in a movie, enjoy lunch, and then back to browsing to the shops.


Art galleries are plentiful on Front Street as well. Here you will wish to spend hours upon hours just browsing around the various galleries.


Ka’anapali is another spot for shopping with their Whalers Village. Here you can find all those name brands products you drool over, however, the price tag is one that might cause a coronary. However, you can also find some unique Maui-made items at Hilo Hattie Island Collections, Honolua Surf Company, Crazy Shirts, Sandal Tree and Martin & MacArthur. Enjoy historical maps, then you find some awesome ones at Lahaina Printsellers.


Kapalua Bay Hotel has a few resort shops but the price tag matches. However, if you are searching for a deal then you might want to check out Konolua Store which is on Office Road. At the Konolua Store you can enjoy a fresh pineapple, other island foods, and cool aloha shirts.


Fresh fruits and unique island food including homemade baked goods can be enjoyed by visiting the Farmer’s Market south of Honokowai Beach Park. It is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7am until 11 am.


Remember, the list above are just some of the most popular shops in West Maui, you can find all kinds of unique little shops in other areas as well. You might even discover a quaint shop in a village off the beaten path where you can find island gifts other than shopping where everyone else hangs out.


Front Street and of course the Lahaina Cannery Mall will be the most crowded, however, if you get there early in the morning and plan your day such as browsing, eating lunch, and then heading back to the car you will have a great time. Take your time, go up one side of Front Street and then head back the other way to your car. This way you can enjoy all the sights to see along the way and visit the galleries, pick your favorite restaurant, and maybe even find the perfect souvenir to take home. Shopping can be a fun adventure especially when you are taking in the sights and atmosphere that West Maui has to offer.
