Shopping in South Maui

While you are traveling around South Maui you are sure to want to find some awesome souvenirs to take back home. Now, shopping here can be a quick in and out the door or an adventure browsing the local shops. You can enjoy browsing and finding all kinds of unique gifts for yourself or to back home to family and friends.


On South Kihei Road across from the Kalama Park, you will find the Kihei Kalama Village. This is a nice place to shop for souvenirs with such items as fossilized sharks teeth and fresh leis. You can park in the back and enjoy a short shopping excursion.


If you have plenty of time and really want to shop, then you can start at the Kihei Gateway Plaza off the Piilani Highway right behind the Tesoro Gas Station. Along this stretch, you will enjoy finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list or maybe something special for you alone. Here you can enjoy browsing Aloha Gifts and Gallery where you will find island style gifts for the home and unique artwork from local artists.


On Hukulii Place right behind the Kihei Gateway, you will love the open market where you can find all kinds of treats and gifts. The days it is open vary, so you will have to keep your eye out for the day if you wish to try out this unique marketplace.


Longs Center is found on South Kihei road, which is home to Longs Drugs. They have some awesome souvenirs, candies and even a quaint coffee shop. Not only will you love the treats, but also it is a great place to find reef shoes and tibis. Next to Long Drugs is the T-shirt Factory. The prices for souvenir t-shirts is better than you can find elsewhere with a large selection.


On Piikea Avenue, you will find Piilani Village Shopping Center. Among the shops you will find include Hilo Hatties, Waldenbooks, Jamba Juice, and Starbucks. Enjoy find great aloha wear at Hilo Hatties and then take a break for a glass of healthy juice or a stout cup of espresso.


Looking for surfing wear? Then you should visit Honolua Surf Company at the Kama’ole Beach Center. They offer the long sleeved t-shirts that everyone loves to wear after snorkeling or scuba diving.


After you visit the Maui Ocean Center, stop by the Ma’alaea Harbor Village. You can find some unique and quaint shops here that you will not find anywhere else. The most popular shops are Moon-boy Tropics for island style clothing and Island Soap and Candleworks.


If you want more upscale shops then you can find these at the shops at Wailea located at Wailea Iki and Wailea Alanui. This is the place for such brand names as Tiffany, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. However, you can also find he Whaler’s General Store which is where you can find several bargains if you do not mind not wearing a label that everyone is sure to recognize.


As you can tell, South Maui has many wonderful shopping areas, some more than likely not mentioned here. You will have to get out and search around the various spots to find local shops with unique handmade items. Enjoy shopping while visiting South Maui along with the beaches and the delectable cuisine. Take your time, eat, browse, shop, and enjoy all that South Maui has to offer.
